Tomato Red
Immediately recognisable and popular the world over the red salad tomato comes in many varieties and like other tomatoes it is incredibly versatile finding uses in many dishes. Introduced to Europe in the 1400’s by returning explorers from South America and not grown in Britain until the 1540’s since then it has been an enduring and popular staple in British vegetable gardens. Available throughout the year the humble red tomato adds vibrancy, taste and colour to salads, soups and sauces.
