Tomato Cherry

This small round tomato is thought to have been around since around the 15th Century and can range in size from pea size up to the size of a golf ball. They are thought to have originated in South America in Peru and Chile, with cherry tomatoes being discovered in Aztec writing as an original ingredient in salsa. Ranging in colour cherry tomatoes are most commonly red but can also be enticing shades of green and yellow and all have the same delicious taste. Cherry tomatoes are generally much sweeter in taste than other larger breeds and are ideal for eating fresh; however cooking intensifies their sweetness and imparts a depth of flavour which can be enhanced by other fresh flavours such as basil or mint.
