Lettuce Romaine

A hardy and crisp salad leaf the Romaine has a versatile leaf with colours ranging from a pale cream, light yellow and vivid green.

The Romaine has a leafy crunchy texture which works superbly as a topping on sandwiches or burgers. One interesting use for the leaves close to the centre of the lettuce, or the “heart” is to brush them with vinaigrette made from herbs, olive oil and red wine vinegar before being placing the hearts under the grill for a delicious snack or component in a warm salad.
