Lettuce Radicchio

Cultivated since before historical records began and praised for its medicinal properties the different varieties of radicchio are named after the region of Italy they come from.

Radicchio is known for its beautiful striking red and white leaves. With a slightly spicy and bitter taste the leaves compliment sweet and tangy salad dressings.

The bitter flavour of the radicchio will mellow when cooked, and coupled with its peak season of May through to September radicchio is great grilled on a barbecue for a mellower but still flavoursome taste.
