Lettuce Oakleaf
In season all year round the Oakleaf lettuce draws its name for its distinctive leaves which whilst sometimes tinged red and often a deep green colour and resemble the foliage of the oak tree.
The loose tender leaves and crisp stems accompany most salad dressings excellently and due to the broadness of the leaf provide volume and substance to salads. Another way to use Oakleaf lettuce is as a bed for grilled salmon, place the salmon on top of the lettuce then top the salmon with lemon juice and olive oil.
