Lettuce Cos
Cos lettuce is the most upright growing of all the lettuces which is caused by the thick and strong steams the leaves have. The outer leaves have a slightly bitter taste whilst the tenderer inner leaves have a sweeter and more delicate taste.
The robust and hardy Cos lettuce grows all year round with its peak season coming during the winter months, due to its substantial and crunchy texture the Cos lettuce is very receptive to sauces making it ideal in starters such as the iconic prawn cocktail.
