Figs are a deliciously versatile fruit with many uses in a variety of recipes. Able to be used in sweet and savoury dishes the fig is recognisable for its dark skin which hides a rich vividly coloured flesh. Naturally high in sugar and sweetness figs are excellent when partnered with other ingredients with strong flavours such as rich cheeses or salty meat. Popular in Mediterranean cooking the fig can be used in salads, stuffing, biscuits and jams. However one way in which the fig stands out on its own is lightly roasted and drizzled in honey for a deliciously sweet and sticky pudding.
