Chard Swiss

Recognisable due to its large deep green fleshy leaves and thick crisp stalks Swiss Chard has a slightly bitter delicate taste which lessens with cooking and takes on a flavour more akin to spinach.

Swiss Chard whilst available all year round is at its peak from July to November. The younger leaves can be serves raw shredded into salads whilst the older leaves are delicious when sautéed with garlic and leeks.
