Bramley Apple
The Bramley or Bramley Seedling takes its name from Matthew Bramley a Nottinghamshire butcher who bought a cottage from Mary Brailsford in 1890 and discovered the apple tree she planted growing in the garden.
The Bramley is a large distinctive apple with a vivid green skin. The apple isn’t recommended for eating and is instead much better as a cooking apple, with a wonderful tart flavour. Coupled with a peak season of September through to March the Bramley is is ideally placed in a hearty warming apple crumble.
