This was the picture in Hesketh Bank on 26th July 07. The heavy rains have washed all the nutrients out of many crops and they are basically rotting in the fields. The ground is so heavy that the farm machinery can not get into the fields to re-plant so this will mean shortages for the Autumn crops. In the interim we are having to fly broccoli in from California and spring onions from Mexico to fill the gaps.
